Interview & Free Book: Eric Buffington

Eric Buffington was born in Ontario Canada, where he lived until he was eighteen. After that he traveled with a Canadian government program, for one year (what he did is top secret), he then moved to California to serve a two year mission working with the Laotian people.
Shortly after returning home he met the love of his life, moved to Pennsylvania and married her. He has since completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education. He currently lives in Pennsylvania with his wonderfully supportive wife, and their four children. He currently works as a High School math teacher in an online cyber school. You can watch his math lessons on his Youtube channel.

Favorite reads?
For fantasy, I love Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, anything by Brandon Sanderson, and Ranger's Apprentice is another favorite. In post apocalyptic genre I really liked Hunger Games and Divergent.

Inspirations for the book?
For The Exile I had a daydream of one sequence in the book, (The archery tournament) and then I fleshed out the characters, and built an adventure story around the archer, Kaz. A lot of the bigger picture stuff came later, after some feedback on early copies.

Did you know you wanted to be an author when you were little?
Not at all! I almost failed English class in high school. My editors will tell you I still, don't, know, how to, use commas. But I love telling stories, and that is where I started with being an author.

Any Pet Peeves?
I'm really upset about the Skittles Rainbow changing lime into sour apple.

Chocolate or Peanut Butter?
Chocolate, no contest. Although I do like them mixed together as long as the chocolate is the dominant flavor.

The weirdest thing you've ever done?
I dressed up as an old man and convinced children to sit on my lap for candy... (I'm not a perv or anything, I was Santa one year)

Is there a soundtrack to the book/Favorite music?
No soundtrack for the book. But I really like country music. Unfortunately my daughter won't let me play it in the house without complaint.

Do you need anything to write?
I need quiet to write. I pretty much do my writing in my basement office after the kids are in bed.

How long do you write on any average day?
I like to write about a thousand words per day if I can. Lately it's been quite a bit less, but that's because my kids are getting older and staying up later. I gladly give up writing time for family time.

Give us the number one reason to read your book.
Because it's amazing! It's a fun adventure from the very beginning all the way through.
